In 2023 the Be Counted project was launched to answer a historical research question. How many Canadians enlisted in the U.S. Military during the Vietnam War era from 1959-1975?
It has been stated that up to 75,000 Canadians could have enlisted, however this has never been proven due to several factors. Be apart of Canada’s history and register yourself or your family member today.
Since 1995 the Canadian Vietnam Veterans Memorial Association - Windsor Chapter has was created to recognize the efforts of those Canadians who chose to serve with the United States Forces during the Vietnam War. Today they exist to promote awareness, support veterans, and to honour and remember those that lost their lives while serving in Vietnam.
In 2025 the CVVMA in Windsor Ontario will be celebrating their 30th anniversary as well as the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. Lets Welcome Home those Canadians that have never been.

Essex Branch - Ontario Ancestors (OGS) - Since 2019 the Essex OA Cemetery Team has been taking on the task of preserving information from cemetery markers within Windsor Grove Cemetery, one of the oldest cemeteries in Windsor & Essex County. The societies Cemetery Team consists of volunteers preserving history one stone at a time through images, transcription, unearthing of many large stones, removing lichens etc. In 2023 all of our work was recognized with the Heritage Award. Find out how to volunteer or simply donate to this amazing society!
The Windsor Veterans Memorial Services Committee is a not-for-profit organization that has been in existence since 1926. Started after WW1, two local veterans wanted to ensure that any veteran that served was provided an honourable burial and service. This mission continues today through generous donations, and dedicated volunteers within our community. As a member since 2015 I have witnessed the impact this has had on families having their loved ones honoured and respect given. Consider volunteering or donating to this amazing organization.
